International packaging and paper group Mondi has launched what it says is the first structured clay-coated kraft (CCK) paper liner, the AirXLiner. The new CCK-based liner allows faster converting speeds and prevents bubbles from forming during the application of a self-adhesive graphic arts product to its end use. It can be used for a variety of products. Structured CCK liners improve performance by creating an air egress function that eliminates bubbles or wrinkles when the backing material is applied. Ridges on the liner create channels in the adhesive layer that show their full effect during the final application of the pressure sensitive adhesive PVC film. The AirXLiner is designed to improve conversion costs and time efficiency.
